Consenting & Permitting

Aspen was selected avoiding high density fishing and other marine constraints and restrictions.
Long lead digital aerial surveys for birds and marine mammals have been ongoing since March 2023.
As part of Cerulean’s site selection process, GIS-based appraisal was undertaken to ensure that the Aspen site:
- Minimised consenting and permitting constraints
- Is within INTOG Sectoral Marine Plan determined areas
- Avoids array overlap with designated sites
- Avoids as far as possible high density fishing areas (informed by Scottish data and AIS)
- Considers other marine users and assets, NATS/MOD, shipping density etc.
- Considers preliminary HRA risk appraisal (birds – foraging ranges, utilization modelling and tagging, SMP outcomes, consideration of available offshore data)
